The championship meeting of the year have come to an end, as they opened back in an Australian January, with the defeat of F. J. Perry. But no one who has seen his fighting volley on many courts will begrudge W. L Allison his first Imponent singles title, much as the score in h's recent triumph points to Perry's unhappy plight. Incidentally, a curious tradition has been broken by which, as win-. ot the Pacific Bouth-West Championship last autumn, Perry should have won for the third time nt Forest Hills two days ago and established another record-at least that is what has happened for many years.
