Parade which took place in Lon- don recently, shows that the British fur manufacturers have plenty of ideas and that their craftsmanship is of a high order. The exhibits were the result a cooperative effort on the part of a large number of leading houses who joined forces for a parade fast year for the frst time and this year have surpass- ed their previous effort in the design of their models and the quality of the furs shown.

About 35 Arms took part in the parade, in which capes, long coats. threequarter-length coats. and WTAPS were shownL on mannequins. Capes were a strong feature of the display, and many of them were worked in new ways with greater length. greater fullness, and a "broader shoulder line." Among the out- standing mcdes was a full-length cape in Canadian mink with the fur worked in a pouched line at the back, and a natural chin- chills double cape made seven- eighths length and beautifully worked. A coat in narrow-strand- ed silver foxes was a novelty, and there was also a very fine cape made with about six tiers of the same fur. White Russian ermine was used for some magnificent evening wraps, and one of the Rovellest long capes had him- pockets under its wrap so that i might be manipulated with ease.

Dress Parade

The first of the important dress parades took place when Bradleys, Chepstow Place, showed their "collection of sutumn models.

The collection is unusually large this year. All the great French houses are represented in it, and

here are also many magnificent furs and other models designed in Bradleys' own workrooms. Fur dominates the collection: it is freely used as a trimming for all kinds of dresses and suits and for millinery. Practically every fur coat has a fur hat to match or an antelope or felt that trimmed with fur. Persian lamb has re- turned to a leading place as à fashionable fur; it is used fat long and short coats, bolero coats, long capes, and stoles; and sleeves of Persian lamb are to be seen on many of the afternoon coats. Persian lamb toques and curious platelike little caps, with a round button of the fur, were shown with many of the Persian lamḥ ` coats.

For sometimes forms the cont collar, narrowing at the waist, and widening out again to the hem-line. This will be a favourite line in trimming the new long fitted coats.

Part of the interest of the new models is the revival of old fa- shions ia amusing and often very becoming, ways. The plastyon of jur on long and short coats in both cloth and velvet is reminis- cent of the Edwardian period,

mostly in black, added a sombre gleam to the glitter of lames, some of which were in chéné

printing on poult, and others in bold designs in gold or subtle backings of metal showing through pastel-coloured silks. A magnificent full-skirted moire lame frock, backed in poult, be- longed to the period when dresses could stand by themselves.

A “GIBSON GIRL" GOWN A "Gibson Girl" gown in black velvet had one shoulder bare and a fascinating, dragging movement at the foot of the skirt. Pleating was used in both day and even- ing gowns, and there were some novel splashes of colour contras. -a magenta silk evening gown with pleated looped draperies had a sash belt of pastel-blue. The Fovelties in woollen materiais WOTE. numerous. Monkey - fur cloth was used for a black ̈suit with a loose three-quarter coal, with a suede belt and jet buckle fund buttons. Bengal lancer striped cloth made the sleeves of an unusual sult with the plain cloth making the coat. Ribbed materials outnumbered the plain, for sunita and coats, and strange surfaces such as fringed cloths, gave a new interest to out-of- doors clothes. Among the tweeds was a nubbly marvel in a multi- colon effect, with red slightly 3

predominating.

LONGER COATS"

In Dark Shades

Longer coats in dark shades are worn over bright coloured wool- len house frocks, guch ás black over green and red; or navy over grey. Colour is used cleverly for contrast, or to add the lighter streak. Metar thread, silver or platinum sequins, · are 3 good choice with black or any deep colour, as they provide the brighter touch, so cheerful in winter.

A Russian sable knee-length cape was one of the most beauti- ful wraps in this Imperial fur, and there WES a long white ermine coat with a hood border- ed in Russian sable. One of the fur novelties was a long scarf of white Russian ermme with a deep flat cowl cut on the round and long scart ends of the fur brought to the back, where they touched the ground. Another novelty was

broad scarf-stole of Persian lamb arranged with a belt and buckle so that it looked like a hollow coat, Many new models in mink were shown, one of which was three-quarter length with, a new little collar. A new colour in dyed ermine is Zulu brown, and this made was shown in both full length and three-quarter length coats. The military in- Quence was seen on several for coats, one of which was in Persian lamb trimmed with frogging.
