THE FOOD SHOCKING
Further hearing of the case of Gunner Clive Grandage was taken by Mr. Thompson at the Kowloon morning. Magistracy yesterday after which the case was remand- ed until Saturday morning, pend- ing further medical observation.
It la remembered that the ac- cused was charged with (a) fail- ing to pay the legal carriage of private car No. 1321 on the veht- cular ferry, Man Kung, from Hong Kong to Lawloon on Sunday; (b), driving the car without a leence; (c) driving the car without the owner's permission; (d) falling to keep to the left when driving round the corner of Peking Road and Nathan Road; and (e), fall- ing to keep to the left at alls- bury Road near the Star Ferry.
Traffic-Inspector. A. Nicoll ap- peared for the prosecution. A medical report had been received and a request was made for fur- ther time in order to have the ac- cused put under further medical' observation.

The Magistrate refused the re- quest in view of the statement the accused had made and the charges nguinst him.
PRISON TERRIBLE.
The accused complained that he had been treated terribly in pri- son, the food was shocking, but he was "allowed to ring up for some money in anticipation of your fining me."
When accused made a request to be allowed to have some cigar- ettes. the prosecution stated that while prisoners were in gaol they were never allowed to smoke.
