ABYSSINIAN PROBLEM

DISCUSSED

Committee To Report To Council

London, September, 24.

The Ita.o-Abyssinian dispute was ..under discussion this morning at meetings in London and Rome and at a meeting of the Committee of Five at Geneva."

The Prime Minister" presided at the meeting of the British Cabinet. This meeting had been provisionally arranged before the Ministers lett London for their " holidays last.. month and although in the interval events have necessitated the return of several ministers who have been in frequent con- sultation on various aspects of the Abyssinian question, to- day's was the first full Cabinet since the special meeting was held on August 22,

It was expected that to-day's discussion would be raised on the report to his colleagues by Foreign Secretary, Sir Samuel Hoare.

The meeting in Geneva this morning of the Committee of Five was held in accordance with their decision announced yesterday to report of the Council on the whole Italo-Abyssin- tan dispute as it appears from the documents and information, It is assumed that the report to Council, which should re- ceive it to-morrow or Thursday, wel comprise the statement of Committee's proposals for settlement, formal replies to these proposals of the two partles to the dispute, and information in possession of the Chairman of Committee as a result of bis conversations with the delegates of Italy and Ethiopia when the official replies were received,
