It 15 been often said that Charles Dickens drew own experience to show us clearly his characters. Perhaps no greater range of Dickens can be found anywhere than in "Great Expectat tions of which Universal has naile one of the finest and most outstanding picture of the year. The film is now being shown at the King's Theatre.

Almost a year of research and preparation was made necessary in the production of this film. It is

marvel of authenticity. Faith ful replicas of the scenes anti sets in the story were obtained at great cost and much trouble, inasmuch as many valuable pieces of furni-; ture and bric-brac, of almost 100 years ago, an iu longer la found. The scene in the churchyard, at the opening of the story is actually stardling in its reality. This set is a faithful reproduction "of an "eld Kentish churchyard not far from the river actually mentioned

in the story.

BANKS TAKE PRECAU- TIONS ON ITALIAN CREDITS

(Special Air Mail Service)

London. Aug. 28. Britain is steadly reducing her commitments in Italy.

This action is dictated purely by business considerations. Simi-. lar considerations have induced one cr the leading joint stock banks to close down a subsidiary in Genoa.
