WENT TO HOSPITAL
Before plaintiff was dismissed, the company made enquiries as to his conduct, and witness admitted having reported to them that plaintiff had been drinking. In Aprti last year; plaintiff went to hospital for over-drinking. Wit- ness heard this from Capta Walker,
Chau Cheuk-fat, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the defendant company, was then call- ed. He stated that on January 2, this year he saw Capt. Walker and told him to ask Capt. Brown to come and see him the following
day.
Witness understood that plaintiff had been drinking and neglecting his duties. "He remam- bered an occasion when the Com- pany paid for the treatment of Capt. Brown's eyes.
Cross-examined by Mr. Silva, witness denied that he had given Capt. Brown $69 for the settlement of other medical fees.
NOTHING WRONG, "
Capt. H. W. Walker testified that he had known plamtiff for about 30 years, but not intimately. On one occasion, some time in October, 1933, witness took Capt. Brown, who was then serving on the ss. Kwong Saf, to the War Memorial Hospital, as he was suffering from the effects of liquor.
In April, 1934, as a result of in- siructions from the defendant com- pany, witness again took Capt. Brown to hospital, for the same complaint. At that time be did not notice anything wrong with Capt. Brown's eyes.
