Well might he be proud """Jock McKelvin, the "glan of this epithet for in two consecutive weeks he had lower- ed the records of two of "the most formidable skips in the Colony, besides being mainly respoLalble for the defeat of the two foremost Bowling Clubs In the Calony. On Saturday “Jock" lowered U. M. Omar's 100 per cent. skip record and inciden- tally the Kowloon Docks secured their second win in two weeks. The Recreio once more returned to winning form by defeat- ing the Civil Servants by 11 shots and C. G. Silva regained his old form. The Indians failed while playing away in the Bowl- ing Green while the C. C. C. B had the better of the argu- ment against their neighbours, the Police.
In the Junior Division the Bowling Green very nearly lost to the Electricians. They finally staved off defeat by the nar- rowest possible margin. The Kowloon Cricket Club alter six successive wins, fel a viethm to the Footballers.

Lower Two Records
The finals of the Hong Kong Chinese Amateur "Athletic Federa- tion elimination trials, in prepara- In tion for the National Games Shanghai were held at the Chin- ese Y.M.C.A. bath on Saturday night and resulted in some close Anishes and the lowering of sev- eral of the existing records.
Norman Lee returned a time better than the existing record for the 100 yards Free Style but failed to touch Chan Chan Hing's record by 1-5 of a second.
Lau Po-hay, runner-up in the Colony 100 Yards Buck-Stroke championship and holder of the China National record for the 100 Metres Back-stroke, bettered his own time by 2-5 secs, but it is very doubtful whether the record will be recognised as it was Ac- complished in a 20 Yards pool. This also applies to Norman Lee's. time in the 100 Metres and ali the other records established in. Chiese "Y" pool.

The Finals
Malaya earned the right to en- ter the final of the International Lawn Bowls Shield Competition by virtue of their splendid victory over England whom they beat on the C.C.C. green yesterday by 18 shots to 15.
There were many bright spits in the game but chler honours must go to A. R. Daliah for the splendid way in which he carried the Malayans to victory. Taking
the
the players Individually Malayans were better than the English. Dallah, in particular, did a good day's work after mak- ing a couple of mistakes. At one stage the store was 17 shots to 6 in favour of Malaya and until Bradbury, came back with a mash of his old mastery things did not look too bright.
On the 20th head, with the score 17 shots to 12 in favour of Malaya (who were lying four) Dallah made a bad mistake in trying to draw which resulted in his wood knocking the jack away to give the Englishmen three sorely needed, points.
On the last head, however, he more than made up for it. Eng- land was lying three when he. with his last wood, came in for the first shot to make matters certain for the Malayans,
It was a great game from start to finish

INDIA QUALIFIES
convincingly
in
defeated India Portúgal
the International Shield semi-final at the Bowling
Green" Club yesterday by 29 shots to 18. A large chowd saw a game in
there wis which
little to choose between the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 of each team, but the superiority of India was largely due to the supremacy of U. M Omar who skipped the winning four, over his opponent C. G. Bilva,
A three at the first head augur- ed well for India, which they followed up with a five the only one in the game) in the 4th, to take an early commanding lead of 9 shots to 2.
At the tea interval which was taken when the game had pro- gressed to the 11th head; India lead Portugal by 18 shots to 8. this substantial lead being the result of good bowling on the 8th, 9th and 10th heads when they scored a 3, 2 and a 3 respectively.
After the tea interval, Portugal revived hopes of their supporters by registering a three on the 12th head, but this encouraging sign was shortlived when India re- taliated with a 2, 2, 3 and another 3, on the 14th, 15th, 18th and 19th heads.
OMAR BRILLIANT
On the 20th head, Portugal made a belated and unavailing effort by scoring a three, and two on the two final heads, the game terminating with India worthy wiriners by 29 shots to 18. India's splendid Victory was en- tirely due to the efforts of U. M. Omar who was in deadly form throughout the game.
He, of
course, had splendid support from his men, who adopted the wise procedure of placing their woods at the back of the jack, which entirely non-pulsed the Portuguese skip, by rendering it risky for him
to drive..
There was some brilliant' bowl- ing seen during the course of the game, and the wiriners of this en- counter are generally accredited with having the best chance of winning the Shield.
victory for sex over Kent by 137 runs, Essex scored 97 (Watt 8 for 49) and 394 (O'Connor 139); Kent 195 and 159.
