City Development Fund

Approved

At a meeting of the Legislative Council held yesterday after- noon at the Colonial Secretary's Office, presided over by Sir Thomas Southern, "(Officer Administering the Government), Hon. Mr. RH. Henderson, Director of Public Works revealed that as i result of the Government's attention having being: drawn to the matter by the Kowloon Residents' Association, certain provisions were being enforced with regard to the Children's Playground at the Junction of Middle and Chatham Roads, in Kowloon, and amongst other items, the Finance Committee will be asked for a supplementary vote for the provision of trees, which would af- ford shade during the hot summer months.

As regards providing hygienic appliances for drinking water, the Hon. Mr. Henderson said that drinking fountains are being supplied at each of the grounds.

OBITUARY

Mr. A. R. Cader

It is with deep regret that wa have to record the death of Mr. Abdul Rahim Cader who died early yesterday morning at the Government Civli Hospital, follow- ing an operation.

The late Mr. Cader was 54 years „of age; and 36 years ago, the was employed in the Railway Company at Canton for a period of eight

years.

Deceased then came down to Hong Kong and joined the Char tered Bank of India, Australia and China, with which firm he served for 24 years.

Some years ago, the late Mr. Cader started the Hong Kong Dry- Cleaning Company, which closed down during the Strike in 1925.

The news of his death cast a

gloom over a large circle of friends and relatives, especially the Indian Community in Hong Kong.

The deceased is survived by a wife and elgh; children, three fons and five daughters. One of his daughter is married to Mr. F. D. Pereira, the well-known local sportsman, and reporter of the

THE FUNERAL The funeral took place yesterday evening at the Mohammedan Cemetery, Happy Valley, and was well attended. The service was taken by the Mulvi of the Mosque.

The principal, mourners at the funeral were the deceased's wife, three sons, five daughters, and his son-in-law.
