The Statistical Office of the Imports and Exports Department reports that the combined values of importa and exports of mer chandise during the first seven months of 1935 amounted to $378.7 milions (£39.1 millions), as compared with $405.6 minions (£29.6 millions) in the corresponding period of 1934, representing a de- crease of 6.6 per cent. In terms of Hong Kong currency and an increase of 321 per cent. in terms of sterling values,

Imports of merchandise during the first seven months of 1935 totalled $218.0 millions (£22.5 millions) as compared with $225.2 millions (16.4 millions) in the corresponding period of 1934; a decrease of 3.2 per cent. in Hong Kong dollar values and an in- -crease of 37.2 per cent, in sterlin values.

Exports of merchandise during the first seven months of 1935. totalled $160.7 millions (£16.5 millions), as compared with $180.3 millions (£13.2 millions): a decrease of 10.9 per cent, in Hong Kong dollar values and an increase of 25.0 per cent. in sterling values.
