COUNTERFEIT COINS
At the Central Magistracy yes- terday before Mr... A. A. Mac- fadyen, Lo Fung You," aged 20. was charged with (a) uttering 14 counterfelt Chinese 20 cent pieces, (b) the possession of 101 counter- feit coins of similar denominations
The defendant was a money changer's foi carrying on busi- niess at
Connaught Road Central, ground floor.
Detective-Sergeant. P. O. Guild appeared for the prosecution while Mr. M. K. Lo was for the defence, Detective-Sergeant P. O. Gid in outlining the case sald that on August 17 an old woman came down to Hong Kong from Cantons to find her husband. Arriving here she could not find him so she slept on the boat that night. The next morning at about 7.30. she went to 3 money changer to change HK, 3,40 into Chinese money. She received 28 20-cent Her pieces from the defendant. son who was waiting outside the shop asked her to examine the money when she came out. The son on examining the money found some to be bad and asked his mother to have same changed. She then went back and the de- fendant refused to change the money. There was a row outside the shop and a crowd had collect- ed.
