It was revealed at the inquiry. that

three of the dve persons alleged to have been bitten by the same dog, had succumbed to the dread disease and in reminding he jury that they were to inquire into the circumstances attending the death of one of the three persons, the Coroner said that they must pay particular attention to the nistory of the case, which was very important."

It appeared that on June 15, de- ceased was bitten by a dog at Ma Tau Kok and some time later two other persons were also attacked

1 bitten by the same animal. The next day two further persons ere bitten by the dog; which was eventually shot by a Police reser- vist.

The Ave persons in question were then collected, and sent to the hospital where they all received a course of infections.

The Coroner said that he was not sure of the facts just yet, but he thought she had died up-country, so that in all, three of the five patients had succumbed after re- ce'ving the usual reatment.

MEDICAL EVIDENCE Dr. Greaves, Government Bac- tericlogist said that about June 19 he

received from the Colonial Veterinary Surgeon the brain of a dog for examination for 'evidence of rabies. It contained negris badles which were definite evidence of infection of rables. On July 22 he received the brain of one Cheung Yau from the Kowloon Hospital for examination. He could not And any trace of the aegris bodies, but the brain was congested and other signs showed an inflamation of the brain. The blood vessels were Bled, and there was an in-

crease in the number of cells of ae bra'n. He could not however, say anything more than that the deceased had died from an in- famation of the brain.
