Black and white has held is own magnificently this season. A tailored dress is in black taxetas with wide goffered elbow puff slee- ves and flat belt line conserving the goffered lines running 'round the body. Its only trimming ja an annunciation Illy at the throat, and it is worn with a white flop hat made of pique with one of the new geometrically cut. front brim- med lines. No other trimming adorns it.

A white lace patterned design. in satin broche is used for a mock tailored to perfection, with a high neck corsage back and front which fastens down one under- arm seam by minute "freg" clips. It has a simple shirt-collar drop, from the front of which hangs a short string of pearls. The wide hale-brimmed hat worn with it is of white straw with a sugar - loaf crown' surrounded by a white cord at the base. The only colour contrast is a glistening nigger brown cire straw belt.

Parasols appear with Jubilee blue garden-party gowns of bra- derle anglaise, Of interest is the tailored redingote of broderie an- giaise and checked organza worn over dark coloured foundations of taffeta.

There are two types-the full Skirted line and that which is meticulously slim.
