Fateful Session Of League
Council

Geneva, July 31...
The eyes of the entire world will be centred on Wednesday on the League Capital which will be buzzing with exolement on the morning of the day when the League Counell is scheduled to as- semble for what may prove to be one of the most fateful sessions In its history.
The President of the 'Council, M. Livinoff arrived here on Tuesday evening from Carlsbad, being followed a few hours later by the Italian delegation beaded by Baron Aloisi, while Mr. An- thony Eden and M. 'Laval are expected to reach Geneva on Wednesday morning, thus affording the chief actors in the forth- coming drama ample time for preliminary discussions before the opening of the meeting at five d'clock in the afternoon.
League circles are chiefly occupied with conjectures as to the attitude the varions delegates will take on the all-important question of procedure--whether the Council should limit itself to arbitration or to intervene directly in the dispute, which latter alternative would almost certainly lead to the withdrawal of the Italian delegation.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Geneva, July 31. The fateful talks, behind the scenes on the Italo-Abyssinian dis- pute began here with Mr. Anthony Eden seeing the Abyssinian dele- gate, Tacle Hawarlat, who is the M'nister in Paris, with the French
adviser, at 11 o'clock this morning. At noon Mr. Eden saw the Italian delegate, "Baron Aloisi, who pre- viously had a long interview with M. Laval, Mr. Eden will lunch with M. Avenol.
