DULL CRICKET IN THE FOURTH TEST
Third Drawa Game Of The Series
The Fourth Test match at Manchester ended in ̈× draw after England had declared at 231 for 6 wickets, which gave them a lead of 270 runs. South Africa realised the hopeless task of being able to bring about a win in the short time avall- able. In consequence the cricket served out was disappointing.
Hammond was top scorer for England with 63 not out in' a chanceless innings, while Bakewell and Barber, the opening batsmen, made useful contributions. This was the third draw, South Africa having won the Second Test.
