LAWN BOWLS INTERPORT

*To Be Held In

The forthcoming 'Interport an- counters against Shanghai, was the subject of a Committee meeting held yesterday, of the Lawn Bowls Association, which was presided over by Mr. H. Nish. There was a good attendance and it was decid- ed after much discussion to ite up to Shanghai proposing the Arst week in October as the most suit able time to hold the Interport As before there will be three encounters the greens select- ed being as follows:-

CRICKET IN THE SUMMER

East Lancs League

Despite the extremely hot wen- ther, the East Lancs Regiment are running a very successful Inter. Coy, league, and the following matches were played during the past week:-

At Shamshulpo on July 8, H. Q. Wing (last year's winners) defeat- ed "C" Company by 27 runs. H.Q. batted first and a complete collapse by their best batsmen, who are all Battalion players, saw 5 wickets fall for only 14 runs. Ple. Baker, and Boy Francis then became asso- clated and between them carried the score to 56, Baker made an invaluable 51 and Francis was re- sponsible for a steady 15. Bands- man Cox then followed up the good work by making 25, the final score being 134. C.S.M. Elvin was the mos; successful bowler for "C" Coy, his final analysis being 5 wkts, for 58 runs. Pte. Fullen took 2 for 6.

"C" Coy. could only total 107. Elvin followed up his bowling by making 31 and shared with Pre. Herbert, who made the same score. he baiting honours. L/Cpl. Steele was responsible for 16.

London, July 11. Following the success of Notts by an innings and 45 runs over London, July 11. In the annual Luelter Golang Northants within two days actual Society's Overseas tournament at play, Lancashire defeated Essex at Walton Beach. L. Foster, of Cal-Old Trafford by an innings and 54 cutta, with a score of seven up, runs Hopwood and Washbrook won the first prize in the 36-hole scoring centuries for the winners. bogey competition in which com- pettors from all parts of the world participated.
