Sterling Business was done during the course of the morning at 2/2 for near, and 2/2 13/16 August and September. Later 2/2 11/16 was also reported for near, delivery. The market closed with sellers at 2/2 11/16 July 2/2 August and 2/2 13/16 September; buyers bid ding 1/16 higher respectively.

'The British Iron and Steel Federation has issued a statement regarding the conference held in Luxemburg on June 4 between the International Steel Cartel and a British délégation of 10 members representing various sectional in terests. The delegation was led by the president of the federation. Lord Dudley, and the chairman of the executive committee, Bir An- drew Duncan acted as chairman of the delegation at the confer ence.

The statement says:---

The heads of an agreement were settled for the cooperation of the British industry with the Interna- tional Steel Cartel at the expiry of the present temporary ment on August 6 next.
