The Marxists gains were at the expense of the Bourgeois parties, Democrats, Liberals, Christian His- toricals and anti-revolutionists, who each lost 1 seat.

Mr. Wedgwood Benn said that the positions of the great Powers were: America, an attitude of benevolent interest; Russia an unquestioned desire for peace: | Japan, a budgetary deficit.
