UNITED NATION
It was only about the time when the Disarmament Conference was showing the first signs of its anal

At a late hour last night rumours were current in town that the rebel cruisers Hai Chi and Hat Shen' were told to leave Hong Kong waters within twenty four hours by the British authorities.
"Enquiries made on board the Ning Hai ellcited the fact that if any such warning was given they would have been communicated with by the authorities. They denied that such had been the case and stated that the relations exist- ing between them (te, the rebels and Ning Hat) were anything bet ter than the last few days. "..
Earlier Information
The latest information obtained regarding the Chinese naval tangle yesterday was to the effect that. Lt.-Comdr. Wu Chi Foo of the cruiser Hai Shen called on board the Ning Hai and harl ́ a long con- versation, with the authorities on board.
It is stated that a better under- standing had been arrived at' re- garding the present situation and hope is being held out that there.. is every prospect of an early and amicable settlement of the whole affair,
The position as vouchsafed to us by an authority is that it is better than the previous two days and cordial relations have once again
been established.
With regard to the presence of the Ying Shut in the Colony, we
were given to understand by the same source that she called in here for the sake of coaling and getting more provisions for her needs and port within the next twenty four hours.

The origin of this sudden- un- animity of British opinion is not faz to seek. What was previously obscure has been made abundantly plain by the recent behaviour, of Germany. The people of this country have been more profound- ly shocked than Herr Hitler as yet appears to realise by the "series of challenges which his Government had thought it to throw out to
reason for the continuous rise of the colonial dollar. Many people deposit Hong Kong money with local banks and change them into local currency. They expect to make profit, when the premium drops in the next few days."
No Government Changes
Persistent rumours that Chair- man Lam Wan Koy, Mayor Liu Chi Wen and other high civilian offi-
