THE KING AS HOST
Diplomats Guests At State Dinner
(Special Air Mail Serviso)
London May 29. Ambassadors and Ministers from nearly every country in the world were the guests of the King and Queen at a State dinner party at Buckingham Palace.
Seated at a long horse-shoo table, the 150 guests, wearing full dress uniforms heavily laced with gold, an impressive picture against the white ana gold background of the dining room.
Wives of "diplomats and other women guests in beautiful gowns added to the colour.
At the centre of the table sat the King resplended in the full dress scarlet
uniform and gold
of the Trish Colonel-in-Chief of
the Guards. At his side was
Queen, a lovely figure in a gown of opalescent paillettes, embroidered
diamante, which shimmered and glistened in the light.
THE KOH-I-NOOR
great
The Queen wore diamonds in her Koh-i-noor Corsage, the among them, and a tiars of mag- nificent diamonds in her hair.
The Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of York, the Duke of Gloucester, the Princess Royal and Lord Harewood, Princess Alice and the Earl of Athlone were present.
Courses were served on gold plate by footmen in resplendent State livery of scarlet and gold, with "knee breeches and powdered" hair.
