DANZIG, SENATE MEETING
President Deals With Problems
(Special to the "Bong Kong Datty Press (Copyright).]
Free City of Danzig, June 12- The unusual tension with which the declarution of Senate's Presi- dent Oreiser before. the Danzig Parliament on the question of foreign policy and retrenchment scheme for putting the finances of the Free City of Danzig.on a sound footing was awalted, was apparent from the fact that all the diploma- tic benches were filled, prominens among those present being the German Consul General, the Follsh Minister, the British and French consus" and a large number of representatives of special corres- pondents of the Foreign Press.
Greiser.. spoke with almost brutal frankness in explaining the present critical financial economic position in Danalg. He said that measures the Senate would be forced to take would be of a draa-
tic
character. but unavoidable under the circumstances, but the Government would face the situa tion and renounce popularity since the future of the population as a whole is required for that sacri- ace.
Greiser first dealt with the foreign political situation, express- ing complete confidence in the League "of Nations which had dealt with the complaints of the opposition parties in Danzig on very farsighted principles. He ex- pressed especial, thanks to the. League of Nations' High Commis- sioner in Danzig whose authority he said the Danzig Government, did not intend to put to question, He also thanked Eden who had reported to the League of Nations on - Darzig.
CURBENCY QUESTIONS Then the President of the Senate dealt with the currency questions, denying emphatically that the Senate had ever considered the proposal to adopt the Polish Zloty as a substitute for the Danzig Gulden currency because this, he
