Tension Relieved: Full Settlement Expected
Messages during the week-end in regard to the North China situation indicated serious tension. Japanese army leaders were re- ported to be visiting Peiping with the intention of presenting a final ultimatum to General Ho Ying Ching.
The latest message, however, states that the wind has veered in the direction of a full settlement, while it is gathered that no ultimatum will be presented and that the original demands have been modified to enable compliance to be easier,
General Ho Ying Ching is reported to have ordered the dis- solution of all secret organisations and to have stated that China has already complied with all the Japanese desires.
