Mr. MacDonald Received By The King

The House of Commons warmiy greeted Mr. Ramsay MacDonald on his last day as Prime Minister" when he rose to address the mem- bers to-day, making a brief reply to Mr. Winston Churchill on the much-debated subject of Britain's air derences.

Immediate.y. after this short passage in the House, the retiring Prime Minister returned to No. 10 Downing Street, were he has made no smal contribution to the his- tory of Britain and from which he has deftly directed the affairs of state for the past several years.

He left No. 10 at 3.40 p.m. in a closed car and accompanied by Sir Clive Wigram, arrived at Buck- ngham Palace at 3.48 p.m. and was ushered into the presence of His Majesty. Mr. MacDonald, had tea with the "King and presented the resignation of the Cabinet

On June 5, it was exactly six years since Mr. MacDonald was named Prime Minister and at that time he was close to the retired Labour leader, Lord Snowden. Lord Snowden, incidentally. was operated upon last night. His con- dition is stated as being satisfac- tory.

NO SURPRISES There are no surprises In the British Cabinet, as announced to- day, for the forecasts were generally accurate.

In the meantime, all the Minis- ters of the National Government assembled to say good-bye to Mr. MacDonald. He and most of them left for the Palace at 5,30 p.m... notable among them being Mr. Malcolm MacDonald, who had not yet attained Cabinet rank.

BALANCE. NOT AFFECTED' Mr. Baldwin's Cabinët numbers 22, compared with 20 under Mr. MacDonald, but the balance of the three parties is hardly affected, as its consists of 15 Conservatives, three National Labourites and four National Liberals, compared with 14 Conservatives, three National Labourites and three National Liberals formerly.

Among the Conservatives, Sir. John Gilmour and Slr Ellton Young are no longer members, but the Marquis o Zetland, Lord Eustace Percy and Mr. Anthony Eden have been brought in,
