When the sight-seeing crowds were at their thickest, a large green car was seen to be wedged In the trame jam between the Temple and Trafalgar-square.

In It sat the Queen, banled by a Lady-in-Waiting. her Majesty was sitting well back in the car she was not seen for some time, and tramc dodgers passed in front of and behind the green car, in a constant stream,

Then a young couple. aight- seeing from the

top of a bus caught a glimpse. "Look. It's the Queen!" they shouted.

In an instant the news spread alorǝg the Strand. Pedestrians lined the pavements and cheered Small children, brought up to see the Jubilee decorations were lift- ed up and waves their Union Jacks.
