The Violet Peel Health Centre, situated at Wanchai, next to the Southorn Playground," was offcially opened by Lady Feel yesterday In the presence of a large gathering.
Glowing tributes to the work done by Lady Peel in connec tion with child welfare were paid by Hon. Dr. R. H. Kotewall, one of the Initiators of the scheme, who said that Lady Peel had always taken a great interest in this direction, for before her ar- rival there was actually no child welfare' centre in the Colony,
In the course of his speech, His Excellency the Governor re- ferred to the interest taken by Lady Peel in child welfare while they were in Malaya, and said that the opening of the Centre which was the first of its kind in the Colony-was undoubtedly a great step forward.
