Silver prices rose yesterday to the extent of for Ready and 11/16 for Forward. the quotations being 34 11/16 and 34% respective- 17. The rise was attributed to India

China having bought.. operated both ways. The tone at the close was firm with 'business done at 3/16 over the quoted rates. In America the rate was unchanged at 753 for Spot.

The New York/London cross- rate opened at 4834 and closed slightly lower at 4831.

Market.

Opened steady but towards the close firmed up owing to a fair amount of selling on the part of speculators.

Sterlink

offer after the 275 was 414 opening for rear delivery result- ing in business at 2/5 for July followed by small transactions at 2/5 13/16 July. The market then Arhed up and business was done at "2/5% for June and July and towards the close a fair amoun of business was done at: 2/8 for near, 2/8 1/16 for July and June, finishing with sellers at 2/6 for and 2/6j May. 2/8 1/18 June July, buyers at 2/61 May and probably June and 2/6 3/18 July.

U. S. Dollars Opened with sellers at 59 but the selling rate gradually rose to 60 7/15 at which rate business was arranged for July delivery followed by transactions at 80 July. The market closed with sellers at 80 9/16 May, 604 June and 601 July, buyers at 1/8 higher respectively."
