RUGGLES OF RED CAP
Charles Laughton, eminent Eng- lish actor, who forged to the fore- front of stage and screen stars with a long series of characteriza- tions of horrifying and sinister characters, finally wins the op portunity to portray a thoroughly lovable person in the title role of Paramount's "Ruggles of 'Red' Cap," which will open tomorrow at the Central, Theatre.
"Two more years of what I've been through,' says Laughton; "and I would have beenű” in some.. psychopathic ward."
יד
For years, cinematically speak- ing, Laughton has frightened small children. Beginning with pictures such as "The Devil and the Deep," and The Island of Lost Souls! - Laughton has poisoned. plotted
and beheaded his way until he reached the climax of his villainous personalities in his ex traordinary and artistic Nero in "Sigh of the Cross."
In the cast supporting Laughton in "Ruggles of Red Gap" are Mary Boland, Charlie Ruggles, Roland Young and Zasu Fitte, The picture, adapted from Harry Leon Wilson's famous novel, is the story of the American tourists who won an English butler in a poker game and brought him home to show up' the four-fushers.
