PALE SLIM HANDS
Mean More Beauty
If you really want to improve from the beauty point of view, you should give your hands a special week of care and atten- tion. In New York there is one particular macicurist that all the beauty snobs" go to.
Her na varnish is particularly famous; "and now she has open- ed a manicure and pedicure par- lour in London which is proof positive that English women are at long last taking an interest in their bands.
To begin with smart women in New York are all wearing com- paratively pale nail varnishes.
This is "also true in Paris, al- though in London they still seem passionately devoted to the blood reds and pillar box shades. Fink coral, blush rore, extra pale pink. pale pink, and medium pink are the newest natural colours.
VARNISH OF ALL SHADËS
In London they have brought out a mahogany rail varnish, and from America we get the amethyst, Jade green, sapphire blue, violet, platinum, and bronze. With the best American varnish you need only one coat ing instead of the usual, two, and the nall should be absolutely free from grease of any kind before It is applied,
Therefore the cuticle oil is put on after the varnish, instead of before it, as in England,
Now about this week's treat- ment that you are going to give your hands. You can, of course. get special hand smoother and softener cream for massaging your hands, or if you want a home remedy, get liquid paramu from your chemist

TO MAKE THE FINGERS SUPPLE
#
Follow this by an exercise for making the hands slender and supple. Hold your hand palm towards you, hold your thumb stiffly away from your hand, and then, without moving thumb, bend your first finger until it touches the ball of your thumb, keeping your other fine gers straight

LONDON NOTES
Capes And Coats
"The transparent evening cape is a pleasant sign of the season, and is only waiting for the right weather
There are both long and short capes of transparent materials, and nearly all of them are ac- cessories of the dresses. Short capes of firely pleated tulle, shirred chiffon, crisp lace, or net come to the waist or just above
be carefully chosen for length. A long cape in tweed or Hight woollen material is usually only for travelling or face meetings, while short capes for town OE country usually have a neatly fitting shoulder line. On some frocks they are buttoned" with the fullness to the back. When tailored they are usually detach- able. Spring coats show many varieties of cape; some are divid— ed at the back, and most of them are of a light texture.
Many new evening coats are spectacular fashion of "The Scarlet Pimpér mel. A long coat of black morié has a double-breasted front, open: skirt, and the high turned back collar and gauntlet cuffs frt black velvet; this is worn over a white: c'oqué evening gown. Long coats of black cellophabe with big sleeves and full skirts have. appeared again and again; the line fits and the dull gleam of the texture is admired.
the shoulder line is treated according to the material Thore that are worn over flowered frocks, often have the towers strewn over them; and one trans-influenced by the parency worn over a shot rose taffeta gown bas tiny roses of the material and a larger rose at the neckline. A full-length' transparent cape over a frock of black falle is of black net, with; two deep circular" bands of black velvet at the footard is tied, with scarf ends of black velvet ribbon. Anöther evening cape has the yoke of chiffon and the lower part of ostrich feather.
There are not, mary evening coatees, but one style consiste mainly of two balloon sleeves on a short arting bolero; it is seen on gowns of taffets and taille.
