One of the biggest upsets of the season was provided in this event! when Mr. W. H. S. Davis brought in his own pony Australian Boy to pay its 20 supporters $357.50 each for a win, and $37.20 each to 39 backers for a place. Got That with Mr. Frost up, was the hot favourite fourth. but it only just managed to come in third. Mount Pilatus, with Mr. Black up, took the lead from the start, followed closely by. Bobalsk Star and Derby Day. At the last Corner, Saucy Face came up to take the lead but was soon passed by Australian Boy which was coming up strongly. Got That then made a vallant effort to catch up but the distance proved too great.

Yet another big upset was regis- tered in this race, Wadebridge win- ning from a feld of 14 starters which included Invermark, Bistre, Seventeenth of September and Racing Boy, to return the second biggest dividend of the day- $258.10.. Bistre finished four lengths behind the winner, while Tiny Star was third two lengths behind. Tiny Star led from the start, fol- lowed closely by Invermark and Bistre. At the Black Rock, Tiny Star and Invermark slackened and as a result were caught up by Blatre and Wadebridge. When the last quarter was reached, there was a good race between the last two pontes, Wadebridge eventually win- ping.
