Champions Beaten By Rest

In spite of the intermittent rain, the match between the Hong Kong Ladies, champions of the Caer Clark Cup tournament, and the Rest of the League was played off on the Y. M. C. A. ground on Satur- day, resulting in a win for the lat- ter by 3 goals to one,

Although ground cänditions were far from ideal, a good and interest- ing encounter was witnessed.

The game began with the Rest monopolising the play but it was left to the Champions to draw first ran blood when Mrs. Moutrie through, from a melee to give them the lead...

After this the Rest still kept up the pressure, and fire minutes later they equalled through Mrs, White,' who scored from close in. Just before the interval Miss O. Brown put the Rest into the lead with a After the beautiful #first-timer” interval, the run of play was a¦ repetition of the Arst half. The Rest did most of the attacking, but they could only manage to score one more goal, the full-time whis- tle finding no change in the score sheet.

For the Rest, Miss O. Brown on the left-wing played a most in- apiring game. During the course of the match she sent zaross countless first-class centres and in addition, scored the best goal of the match. She was easily the most outstanding player in the field.

Miss J., Wong, playing at the pivotal position for the Rest, and Miss McKenna, in the same post- tion for the Champions also gave creditable displays.

Despite the fact that the Rest had a pair of strong backs, Mrs. Harrop, the leader of the Cham- plons, played a fine game.

Two championships were decided during the week end in local soccer. The Civilians repeated, their success by beating the Army. in the Anal of the “Lal Wah Cup" and thus retained, the trophy for another year.

South Chins "A" by virtue of their win over Lincolns yester day have made things certain for themselves in the senior league "and have earned the right to keep the "Daily Press" Cup for a season with 37 points to thek credis with stili a few matches in „hand. Their win yesterday was certainly a lucky one as from the run of the play the soldiers should have been the winners

instead.

In the other senior game Navy beat the Fusiliers by the odd goal in three. The soldiers were unlucky to find Cocker, the Navy golle, at the top of his form. In the third "division match be tween Fasillers and Pollen two players were ordered off the field for dangerous play.
