CLOTHES GOLD AND SILVER TAFFETA PETTICOATS
There is great richness of "tab- ric and trimmings employed in the frocks, trains and wraps for the Court and ceremonial parties for the Jubilee season. On all sides one realises that fashion has assumed more importance than has been the case for years.
At the Courts of other years it' was only a question of the frock itself and the train. The March, Courts will bring not only the lovely fabric, colours and etceter- as for the Court creation, but beautiful wraps, which in many cases will be of the most luxurious furs.
Ermine purely white, but sometimes dyed in the becoming new shades, will be first favourite. In order not to crush the glories they conceal popular shapes will be the cape, graceful kimono, and even a new rendering of the old- fashioned dolman.
Very lovely are some of the-dyed mole-skins. One example in an appie-green cape was designed
for a debutante who is to wear an apple-green satin dress with a train of silver shot green, the lining of the train being of the satin.
A Court dress of golden lame flecked with sliver has a train of silver cloth lined gold. The wrap is a three-quarter kimono made in beige ermine bordered with an edging of mink and lined with golden lame. Golden shoes and a bouquet of gölden roses accom- pany this. Yet all this magnific- ence is treated so subtly that one senises the cunning simplicity of a very exclusive designer-one who knows how to convey regal magnificence with perfect slm- plicity of cut and style.
Some of the new cloque crepes are' lovely for the Court; some of these will be made on crossway lines. Cloque designs are fatter- lag if the raised stripes, pots, or flecks are well manipulated.
There will be much white worn worked with silver and completed by trains of silver, The Court wrap is charming when composed of, the same fabric lined with a flesh-pink velvet and perhapa & trimming of fcx dyed pastel pink.
There is no doubt that the pale tints are the usual choice for the early Courts. There are many kinds of new brocades stiffened by metal weaves.

The train is cut slimly, a clever note being a taffeta lin ing to the train with border of tiny pink and stiver roses that just shows as the wearer walks.
Lovely ethereal fabrics, includ- ing many marquisettes in white and pale tones, are plentifully studded with seed pearls, coloured sequins or cellophane. Lace de- signs and many cire nets with quantities of pleated and gauged frills of tulle also go to the pic- turesque phase of fashion.
Flowers and sparkling diamante are used for shoulder straps, sharing popularity with glass in the new ice colours. Bilver bugles and seed pearls are Hght and lovely when arranged Like & shower of petals on to tulle, Col- oured taffeta petticoats under white tulle are another fashion come-back
either the old rounded or square decolletage,, or with becoming ficha that can be tied hack or front.
In smooth-surface slks and satins, also in some. of the new lace-cire, there are the tailored evening, or demi-toilette, models.
Folonaises created much inter- est athong a collection of lovely clothes at one recent "dress dls- play. A satin-cire fitted to above the kness and then stood out in dignified godets, buttoning all the way up the front. It was in black lined Wedgwood.
The blue petticoat rustled as the wearer moved, and the lovely colour showed again in cuffs and a spray of chiffon roses near the throat-a very graceful demi-tal- lette fashioned in the quaint polo- naise way.
