May 6 was already a Bank Holiday in Scotland under the provisions of the Bank Holidays Act, 1871; and the proclamation in extending the Bank, Holiday to' England and Wales and Northern Ireland further appointed the day to be a Public Holiday.

Forty members of the Royal Family will be present when the King and Queen attend the Jubilee Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Cathedral on May 6. Their Majesties will have seats specially placed.in front of the steps lead- ing to the choir, and the other members of the Royal House will
