Presiding at the annual general meeting of the Children's" Playgrounds Association, which was held at the Board Room of the Public Works Department. yesterday, the Hon. Sir Thomas Southorn, K.EE. reported that three new playgrounds were opened last year and that the daily average attendance was 3,350. Although the work of the Association WAS, STOW- inr, they had, however, only touched the fringe of the pro- blem, and he appealed to Clubs and individuals for continued and increased support.

Sir Thomas also paid a tribute to Mr. J. L. McPherson, M.B.E, the Hon. Secretary of the Association, and the or- iginator of the scheme, who is shortly going home on retire- ment, for the splendid services he had rendered.
