There was a large and distingushed gathering present and among the guests were; Sir Thomas Southorn, CM.G., and Lady Southorn, Mr. Justice MacGregor and Mrs. MacGre- zor, Sir Henry Pollock and Lady Pollock, Mr. A. S. MacKiohan (President of St. Andrew's Society), Mr. B. H. Hallowes (Pre- sident of St. Patrick's Society; Hon. Sir Willam Shenton and Lady Shenton and other prominent members of the Chinese and other communities.

The place was gally decorated with the Welsh flag (the red dragon of Wales on a green and white background) being prominently in display. The table decorations with the leaks (the traditional emblem of Wales) and daffodils (an emblem more recently associated with the Principality) were profuse.

After dinner dancing was indulged in to the strains of the Hong Kong Hotel orchestra and the spirit of conviviality pre- vadled throughout the evening.
