The Macon was battling through terrific storms all Tuesday. Her midnight S.0.5. signal set warships and Coastguard craft searching the murky seas 110 miles south west of San Francisco, but two hours before the battleship Tennessee sighted several calcium pots burning in the seas and searchlights described the Hittle remaining wreckage of the airship and seven of the Macon's rubber Ufeboats laden with survivors whose rescue was immediate- ly effected despite poor visibility and heavy swells,
