Of the fifty-two living Cardinals, twenty-six are Italians. There are ix Frenchmen, four Americans, three Germans, two Spaniards, two Poles, one Belgian, one Irish man one Hungarian, one Canadian, one Czechoslovak, one Portuguese, "one Austrian, and one Brazilian.

The doyen is Cardinal Andrien who is 85. The youngest is the year-old Cardinal Manolo Gonza- lese y Coujeira, a Portuguese.
