NEW GOVERNMENT OFFICES

Scheme To Take Ten Years To Complete

(Special Air Mall Service)

London, Jan. 9.

Hong Kong.

The scheme for erecting a great block of new Government buildings in Whitehall seems to be hanging fire somewhat.

Montagu House is eventually to be pulled down and the row of old buses in Whitehall Gardens is to disappear. This is designed to provide a site on which depart montal offices-costing about 722- 000,000 will be erected.

The reason for the delay is not any disinclination on the part of the Government to push on with the scheme, which it is thought will represent an economy.
