GOSSIP FROM THE

CAMPS

Hitting The High Spots

(Special Air Mail Service),

London, Dec. 5.

Goals are not generally got very eastly by visiting clubs at Swan, sea, but Brentford got four there on Saturday last to record a fine win, which makes the visit of Manchester United to. Griin Park this week-end all the more in- teresting.

Last season Manchester United caused a big surprise by beating Brentford by the odd goal in seven at Griffin Park. That day Brown. the Scottish outside-right, who Joined Manchester United after a sojourn in America, played a won- derful game besides scoring two goals. Brentford were so impressed by Brown's display that Mr. Curtis negotiated for his transfer at the end of the season. He is now with Brentford, but has to be content with a place in the reserve team owing to the fact that the Bees have one of the best outside rights in the country in Hopkins, recently capped by Wales against Scot- land...

George Robson, who has recently been recalled to the Brentford first team with excellent results to all concerned is "wanted" by Hearts, the Scottish League club. "A" few weeks ago Reading had the chance cf taking Robson for a fee of about £750, but Joe Smith was not impressed with the play of the former, West Ham inside forward on the day he saw him play.

The following week Robson re- gained a place in the first team; and it would take a much larger fee than the one mentioned for Brentford to agree to a transfer at the present time, in fact, the directors would probably not listen to any overtures while Robson re- tains his place.

Many of the supporters of Queen's Park Rangers are wonder- ing why Abel is being preferred, to Reed and Blackman as leader of the first team attack. The former Fulham and Chesterfield leader has not pulled up many trees since be

took over the centre-forward post- tion, but then neither Reed nor. Blackman brought the resulta anticipated when they, in turn occupied the spearhead in attack.

Lost Ball

An unusual and somewhat amusing incident happened at the end of the Bristol City-Gillingham cup-tle. The last kick of the match was a shot, for goal, which missed its mark.
