In que of the big numbers the cabaret sequence a revolving stage made of glass and lit from underneath and a horizontal trá- veiling staircase, are used to great effect. Many remarkable over- head shots have been obtained with the aid of prisms and special. camera lenses.
The "Rainbow Number," which forms a part of the opening night at the club. was photographed from every conceivable angle, in- cluding a special trick samera which was axed on the "cat-walk" at the top of the studio. On the stage of the night club, three giant rainbows covered in süiver foll and out-lined in Neon tubing create, a striking background.

Lubitsch, tends to
recall "THE LOVE PARADE." Which is a pity, because "The Merry Widow" and the first Lub- Itsch-Chevalier-Macdonald music- al success, however natural, are bound to be a little unfair. One must remember that The Love Parade" in its day, was something quite fresh, It startled · and stimulated the Benses by the novelty of its ideas. There is na- turally not the same degree of surprise In "The Merry Widow." But if we could see the two pro- ductions side by side the advance" in technique would, I believe - tonish us.
A desperate struggle follows, but .. the onlookers, maware that it is # real night, applaud heartily They enjoy the toughest apache dance ever staged. The producers prophecy, that this dance will eclipse anything Miss Courtneldge has done in her past picture...
The story concerns Bally Bird, whose ambition, it is to work in cabaret, but who is turned down at her audition.
