"HIGH"- BROW" STATESMEN
(Special Air Mail Service)
London, Nov. 24.
In his speech at the "Sımday Times" Book Club Sir Austen Chamberlain maintained the old tradition that English statesmen are at their best when they talk about books.
Despite his avowal of having spent in uncomfortable morning in its preparation, he clearly enjoy- ed delivering it.
Be clutched the desk in front of him in the true Front-Bench man- ner. His devoted to Byron he em- phasised" with the sweeping“ ges-. ture with which he explained Io- carno.
The remark made to him by Mr. Asquith that he ought to have read a certain best-seller throws a grim light on the burdens of Ministers. mé. Asquith's advice was prompted not by the "value" of the book but the conviction that a Cabinet Min- "ister should be acquainted with the
public taste,
While Sir Austen discreetly avolded mentioning the identity of the novel in question, a lady whis- pered. "I Winter Comes."
Not Musical
Sir Austen Chamberlain's ad- mission that music was a closed book to him was also in the Min- isterial tradition.

ARTIGLIO RECOVERS
MORE-GOLD
The Italian salvage ship, Artig lio, landed at Plymouth recently a further quantity of bar gold and sovereigns recovered from the wreck of the liner Egypt, of Us hant. The present: consignment is valued at about £30,000, and con sists of four 400-oz. bars, fifteen 100-oz bars and 5,390 sovereigns.
The reason for the amaliness of the consignment is the fact that the small amount of treasure re maining in the wreck has become scattered, rendering the work of recovery more difficult, the great bulk of the gold, silver and sover- eigos having already been salved.
The remainder of the salvage is estimated to represent about £100, 000 st. present values, and there is reasonable hope that a couple of working days will permit of the virtual completion of the opera tions. It is fully anticipated that w somewhere in the region of 96 par cent of the treasure in the Egypt will be recovered

Lack of calcium leads to Rashes,Eczema, Nettle-rash, and other forms of Sxin- Trouble. Here Kalzana has been proven of the greatest value.
In the case of Nettle-rash a few large doncs (6-8 tablets each time) will conquer the rash very quickly indeed and stop the itching. In the case - Of Eczema, it will take a little longer, for the calcium must have time to strengthen the walls of the blood-vessels and the cells of the skin.
