Scottish Company Of Society's "Drive"

Hended by the Pipe Band the Scottish Company of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps held their Annual Church Parade yesterday at the Union Church. The Company was under the com- mand of Capt. H. R. Forsyth withi Deut. A W. Brown second in command. The Pipe band was un- der Pipe-Major Mackic. Their turn aut was smart and impressive.
Rev, E. G. Powell conducted the service which was largely attend- ed and amongst those present were the Chieftain and Mrs. A. S. Mac- kichan, HE: the Governor, HE. the 0.0.C. Major General O. C. Barrett and Mrs. Barrett. Admiral Sir Frederic Dreyer, Commodore Frank Ellot, Mr. and Mrs. B. Wylle, the committee members, of St. Andrew's Society and others.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. the well known local Catho- lle Charity Organisation made their annual Rose Day drive on Saturday when pretty sellers were to be seen all over the Colony and the mainland and by noon almost every individual had a rose. The result of the drive was $100. year's figure.

The largest individual amount was collected by Miss Blu who brought in 8183, while Miss Cissy Noronha collected $136.41. Mrs. J. P. Sherry brought in over 877.00. The Society wish to thank all those who helped in organising the sale and the collectors, alse the Cecil Hotel for the use of the room for a depot, and these firms which provided refreshments for the rose sellers.

Subsequent to the parade, the Chieftain and Mrs. Macklchan were "At Home" to members of the Scottish Company and their friends at the Volunteer Head- quarters toast of the Company. Mr. Macki- chan sald, that it gave him great pleasure in welcoming the gather- ing there that day, but he did not want to say much on this occa- son after what they all had gone through the last few days.
