We do not find that speed is the only thing that passengers want. Comfort and regularity count for a great deal."
Sir Eric announced that the last section of the Empire trunk route from Singapore to Australia will begin operations in December.
The traffic on the Africa route has increased by more than 40 per cent, and the line from England to South Africa to be doubled in frequency almost immediately.
The Board also contemplate in- creasing the frequency on the east- 'ern route to twice weekly,
New Airplanes
"We have under construction three new four-engined and four new twin-engined aircraft," St Eric continued.
The top speed of these aircraft will be in the region of 170 miles
an hour.
"The four-engined aircraft are services and extensions. intended for use on the European
"The twin-engined aircraft are for long distance tours and over- seas charter work.

"It is still suggested," said Sir Eric, that the mails should be carried by very fast aircraft to a high speed schedule and that the passengers should be carried in a different class of aircraft slower speed.
