EAST LANCS V. NAVY With a much strengthened team the Navy overcame East Lanes by 5 nl. Golding scored towards "the interval giving Oxford no chance. In the second half only one team was seen in action, the Navy doing very much as they pleased and it was only a question of how many. Stanley sent in a weak shot which the custodian falled to gather and Wasp Cannell added the third from a beautiful pass by. Baxter. Golding Artents headed in the fourth, and, Cannell, receiving from. KITCHELL SHINES WITH BAT In a Junior Division "League game, the Indian Recreation Club defeated the Club de Recreio by 57 rúns at Sookunpoo on Saturday. A fine innings of 35 runs by Kitchell, helped by A. M. RumJahn, who had 49 not out, enabled the Indians to declare at 183 for 4 wickets. Lopes was the most sue- cessful bowler for the losers tak- ing 3 wickets for 37 run.

The Recreio team was dismissed for 106 runs against the bowling of M. R. Abbas (5 for 37) and A.

M. Rumjahn (4 for 95). E. A. Barros played a plucky innings for the losers, scoring 47 out of 60 runs. H. A., Noronha and G. A. Noronha, hit up 20 and 21 respec- tively.

ATHLETIC MEET

South China A.'A. Annual Sports

In spite of the inclement wea- ther, the first day of the South China Athletic Association's 10th annual athletic sports meet com-. menced yesterday at the Caroline Hill arena when some close finishes were seen.

Before a small gathering, the events, many of which were heats,

carried were

out. There were large entries in almost every event. The 400 metres open relay race open to the colony attracted entries from seven local clubs, associations or schools. South China was first and the Navy second in one of the heats while South Wales Bor derers were the other entrants into the Anal. The Youth's Asso- ciation were the other team that secured a place in the other beat.

The remaining events will be continued to-day and at the con- clusion of the sports, the Vice- President of the South China Athletic Association will present the prizes.
