VICTORY

Over Two-Thirds Senate Majority

New York, November 7.

* Disaster in the' Republican party appears to be 'overwhelm- ing. The latest returns show the composition of the Senate to be 67,Democrats and 27 Republicans. The returns of the House of Representatives indicate 262 ·Democrats elected or leading.'N against 88 Republicans.

Senator Reed, a virtual leader of the Republléän party at the last Congress, is running far' behind Guffey, the Democratic rival for the Senate for Pennsylvania, but Schnader, Republican ean- didate for the State governorship, appears to be leading the De- mocratic candidate Earle.

The Democrats have obtained a majority of over two-thirds in the Senate for the first time since the Republican party was organised.

It is estimated that the Demo- crats polled 10.200,000 votes. The Republicans had 7.800,000 through- out the country.
