New York, Oct. 20. The American Oriental Finance Corporation's report through their New York agents, Mesars. E. A. Pierce & Co, states:-

Stocks: The, undertone remains firm and we still believe that it would take very litale good news to penetrate the resistance area.

'Wheat:-Prices declined on re- newed liquidation, influenced by a weak Liverpool market, together with reports that further importa- tion of rye and oats may occur.

Cotton-The market was small, featured by Trade demand for December, price Axing and scatter- ed hedging of distant options. The "spot" situation is tight owing to actual cotton going into the Gor- ernment Loan.

Rubber:-The market opened lower on easier cables from abroad. Later, the market was stendler on the strength of Sterling.

The following cabled reports were furnished by Messrs. B. E. Levy and Co. last night:

The Market

Luck was on the side of Barred Umber in the Clare Handicap, as with the race well won, Hot Bun re- fused to struggle in the last hundred yards, aud Barred Umber was able to overhaul her and win cleverly. Blen de Roi II. had every chance, but not only did he fuck robustness but he also was a little out of his class.

Subros may not have distinguished herself ou her first outing, but the experience was of great benefit, for on 2b worse terms she turned the Gatwick tables on Cosmobelle in the Produce Stakes. Odds were laid on Lemniscus, but he is a soft-hearted type. He had a clear lead for three furlongs, and then began to hang to the right, and Cosmobelle and Subross promptly challenged. Subrosa secured first run,

and just held off Cosmobelle. There was an unprofitable gamble on Radiation in the Wicken Plate. She made the running for five furlongs, then Marushka closed with her and was soon going the better. They were both challenged in the last hundred yards by Borrymaids, who stayed on well to win in the last stride.

(Special Air Mail Service)

London, Oct. 5. D. McCulloch, a former Scottish champion, was beaten in the third round of the Dunlop Scottish Profes sional Tournament, which was continu- ed at Dalmahoy, Edinburgh, yester- day, by 8. Burns.

McCulloch was outdriven at almost every hole, but played well in the short game...... Burns holed a long put to take the load at the 14th.

M. Seymour, present holder of the Scottish title, won comfortably by four and two against A. Learmonth (Tarmouth Castle). Seymour reached the turn in 37 strokes with a lead of five holes, but he lost both the 10th and 11th Both potted splendidly towards the end of the round, but Seymour was able to add another hole to his lead by winning the 18th.
