Wheat: The market WAS Katureless. Selling early in the Gay on the weakness of the Liver pool market was followed by local covering on a strong corn market and on firmer Liverpool cables. Favourable reports from the Argen- tine were the basis for much of the early weakness in the Liverpool market.

Cotton:---There was an absence of hodge selling and the "spot" 40

situation was strong. A moderate 20 ct. offtake in the cotton-goods mar- -kets continues. The Liverpool 10cts.narity is widening. A continued Trade demand was a sustaining 34 cts, influence. 10 cts.

PARLIAMENT'S NEW SESSION

Indian

Reforms To Be Discussed

London.. October 18. New York, Oct. 18. The programme of work before 1fessrs. S. B. Levy & Company's Paraawns which reassembles a

the present month report, through their New York the end of agents, Messrs. White, Weld & Co., | after the summer recess, wil be states'..

dominated by the question of the Indian constitutional reforms, and the Government's Bill give effect to their proposals will over- shadow in importance all other legislation that will come before" the new session to be opened by the King in state about November 20.

Stocks: The market was in decisive and immediately lacking further incentive for a "rise, with investors and Traders awaiting the various Presidential addresses for the coming week, particularly that before the American Bankers' Asso- ciation, for further confirmation or a Government policy for the encouragement of business. Mean. white. we believe that purchases can be hate during the period of irregularity and we would include railroad issues among our pur- chases. We believe there is D strong possibility that the Lower Court, which is now hearing the Fenston Bill, will declare it as un- constitutional. Business cone: 680,000 shares.

Bands:-United States Govern- ment and high-grade" issues were slightly easier on profit-taking. Second-grades are off.

Commodities: The commodity markets were quiet, with offerings hoticeably decreasing on declines. The agitation to fight against the loss of export in the cotton mar- kets is getting front-page publicity. Total sales: Wheat: 16,206,000 bushels; Corn: 9.436.000 bushels; Rubber: 132 lots.

It is anticipated that a little wind up the outstanding legisla over a fortnight will suffice to

it wik probably end November 15: but the procedure to be adopted in regard to the publication of the report of the Joint Select Committee of both Houses of Parliament on Indian constitutional reforins will come before the House of Commons when this session is resumed on October 30.

The Committee's main task is now completed, but there still re- mains an immerse amount of de- talled work to be done in connec tion with the preparation of re- ports and records for printing and publication.

There is. however, every prospect that the report will be published next month- "British Firelësa
