Statement By H. E

The Governor

At the Legislative Council, yes- terday, His Excellency the Governor made the following statement relative" to the silver situation:-

"As I believe that there may be some feeling, of uncertainty la this Colony, as to what, if any steps this Government propose to take in view of the action" of China in regard to silver, I wish to say that Government is keep- ing a close watch on the situa- tion- and as at present advised. the Government sees no reason to take any special action."

The note is of shall handy size. the printed portion being much the same size as the present red $10. note, while there is a large white border. The predominant colour is light green but the notë is vari-coloured, berig printed by the new "Kaleldothrome" protec- tive tint printing. In the centre of the note there is a vignette, the effigy of Britannia and on each side of this the numerals. 100 ap- pear in multi-coloured panels. The space for the watermark, a Roman head, is on the right hand side and It may be observed that the out- lines of the watermark are very clear.

Apart from the white border the back of the note is of dark green, giving a view of the harbour, with Statua Square and the Supreme Court visible in the fore-ground.
