LONDON NOTES
By The Air Mail
(From Our Own Correspondent)
London, Sept. 20. Pedestrians are thoroughly en- joying the privileges conferred upon them by the new safety crossings, and are taking revenge for the 'days when they were com- pelled to skip across the road. A. motorist who dared to invade a sacred area in Piccadilly was im- mediately surrounded by good- humoured passers by, who called out, "We'll set Mr Höre-Belisha on you."
Holding Up the Motorist Seriously, though, the motorist deserves sympathy on occasions. During the rush hours at certain points there are constant streams of people crossing, and if the mo- torist were to obey the regulations strictly, he might have to wait as long as half an hour before he could move.
The
Not Very Likely name "Marina,” which is being suggested for "534," would not constitute a new departure in Cunard nomenclature, though it in unlikely to be adopted. As a mat- ter of fact the "a" termination was Just as popular as the "a" with the company last century. Nota- ble examples of "a" vessels were the Canada, Etna, Niagara, Amer- ica, and China-the last-named a famous Clyde-bullt record-breakër of 1880.

“Blue Riband" Held by the Rex. Speaking of "534" and her at- tack on the "blue riband," there appears to be some doubts as to the task she will have to accom- plish to wrest the title from the Rex. Actually the latter's record ran represents an average speed of 28.92 knots an hour. The last Cunard record crossing was made
by the Mauretania" in 1928 at an average speed of 25.28 knots.

DO YOU JIKE SERIALS?
Last week I went to Interview Stephanie McBlurt, world famous, lady-novelist, and author of such emotional masterpieces as “Love, or ——” “Crushed to his Breast,” and its sequel: “I pushed my pram.” She received me graciously. To cut a long story short, she has given me the exclusive serial rights of her new novel "PEAK CLUB GIRL." This has never before been published, and is a fearless exposure of the perils that threaten an innocent young girl in the East.
