TRAINING GALLOPS

Bronze Era Returns A Fast Mile On Sand Track

(BY MORNING DEW "Y

There was a long list of ponies "clocked" yesterday morning and although the track was by means fast, several goed galaps were seen.

1.

The outstanding performance of the morning was a mile gallop by Bronze Era (Mr. Davis up). The pony took 1.57.3 for the journey and finished up quite strong. The first mile was in 584 and the second half, occupied exactly the same time. This candidate stands a good chance of upsetting Able Amazon on'.. Saturday in the mile rsOE.

Another very fast bit of work was by Mr. Seth's Just That with Mr. Soares on the saddle. Covering a mile in comparatively slow time, the pony finished up the home straight in 26.3. That is likely to win a race very soon.

Just

Of the athers. I like the way in which Soldier of Italy' did his work He is in the novices event and may provide a sur- prise. Wm. Poy was on the saddle yesterday morning,

Soldier of Germany, who will be starting in the Austin Plate (six furlongs) went over that distance yesterday and created a good impression. The pony shan'd be prominent on Saturday.

Lemberg and Gladlater, two winners at the earlier meeting were both sent over slow work. These ponies are extremely At and may win again this week.

Two contenders for the Double Tenth Plate, Sadko and Sol- dier of Britain were sent out over a mile. The "Soldier" can- didate shaped very well, but the same cannot be said of Sadko, who seems to have lost his old dash.

Racing Pluck (Heard up) and West Parade went round to-

gether. They registered 1.45.4 for six furlongs. Both were mov- Ing well.
