FURTHER RISE IN GOLD

Market Rife With Rumours

London Oct. 3. Continued pressure against ster- ling has resulted in gold being fixed at a new high level of 142/21. Falth in the gold bloc which had been disturbed by the Belgian scare has now been fully restored.

Owing to an Improvement in United States trade, there is a heavier demand for dollars than last year, which is accentuated by continental bear covering caused by the interpretation placed upon President Roosevelt's speech as indicating no further devaluation.

The market is rife with rumours, which, however, are discredited by those well-informed. Some state that the dollar and sterling

Bucharest, Oct. 1.` General surprisë has been caus ed here by the announcement Monday afternoon that Premier Tatarescu had handed in the Ca- binet's collective resignation to King Carol who immediately en- trusted the Premier with the task of forming a new Government. At the Cabinet meeting held on Monday afternoon, Tatarescu in- formed his colleagues of the de- cision to hand in the resignation and simultaneously made it known that he would make some changes in the reconstruction of the Cabl- net.

According to an official com- munique, the Government, resign- ed in order to "give the King an opportunity, before the re-open- ing of Parliament. to examine the political situation, especially in regard to the work accomplished by the Cabinet as well as the King's forthcoming visits abroad."

For some time past it has been clear that the reconstruction of the Cabinet is inevitable owing to the difference of opinion between the Premier and the lender of the Li- beral Party, Bratlana. The Pre- mier has now taken the opportu- nity afforded by the resignation of the Trade Minister Theodorescu and the death of the Under- Secretary, Mavrodi, to reconstruct the cabinet in accordance with his wishes.

Those in close touch with Titu- lescu state that the latter is not prepared to re-take the portfolio of

to have been dissatisfied, with the foreign political actions taken "re- cently by Tatarascu, the. Prime Minister, without any previous consultation with him."

It is understood that Tatarescu sent a long telegram to Titulescu on Monday assuring him of his complete confidence, asking him to retain the portfolio of Foreign Minister, and requesting him to reply by midnight. ".

King Carol also held a long telephone conversation with Titu- flescu who, however, is stated, to be adamant, in refusing to enter the new Cabinet whose formation is expected to be announced the course of Tuesday.- Transocean Kun Min.
