National League Pennant

are

New York Sept. 29.. New York baseball fans most excited over the unexpected climax to the National baseball league this season with the tle for the pennant, between New York Giants, world champions, and St.. Louis Cardinals. The situation is one of the tensest in the history of the game.

Giants Trounced Brooklyn Dodgers beat New

rums York Giants by 5

to l Watkins scoring a homer-for-the Giants for their lone run in the seventh inning. Brooklyn 5.12.0: New York 15,0.

The gibe of the Giants' manager. Bill Terry, who had said "Are the Dodgers still in the League?" met with a most severe sub from the infuriated Dodgers who frequently dubbed their opponents as "Daffi- ness Boys." When Mungo Park allowed the Giants only five hits, Brroklyn Dodgers arose with wrath and smacked

Poy Parmeless" pitching for ten hits after eight innings and collected two more in the ninth

The Giants" position is very precarious since a victory for St Louis Cardinals appears imminent. Is is essential they defeat Brooklyn Dodgers to-morrow or else the pennant will be -an" unfvialled dream
